CPU or GPU upgrade

I’m currently running the below setup and I’m not sure whether to upgrade the CPU or GPU right now.

 

CPU: Ryzen 2600x

GPU: RTX 3060Ti 8gb

RAM: 32gb DDR4 3200

 

My upgrade options I’m looking at are;

CPU: Ryzen 5700X3D

or

GPU: RTX 5060Ti 16gb model

 

Personally I play games like F1, Le Mans Ultimate, and the odd single player like Witcher 3, RDR2, or new AAA title. My partner however likes to play Stardew Valley with mods, which has said in the past the mods sometimes take a little bit of time to load.

 

Any suggestions on which upgrade would be best for a quick performance boost (fps, but also ability to use higher graphical settings) would be most appreciated as I’m not the most knowledgeable in which is more important for my use case.

Are you currently CPU limited in games? If not, then a CPU upgrade won't help much.

 

Of course a faster GPU might require a faster CPU to go along with it.

 

You can use tools like Intel PresentMon or MSI Afterburner to check CPU/GPU usage in games.

Higher graphical settings: GPU
More FPS: GPU, unless CPU limited.
