Can't tell what's wrong

i was building my pc today and it was okay, until i tried to boot it up. Everything would light up (mobo, gpu, fans etc..), but i wouldn't receive any video signal. I don't know what to do, as it's my first time building a rig.

Are your PCIE power connectors plugged in? Some first timers, and even veterans forget to plug in their PCIE power connectors in.

Make sure everything is plugged in, don't be scared to put some force onto tings, make sure GPU clicked in, make sure you are using the right display adapters. If you mobo has the option you can to to clear Cmos.

Give us more information, the more information you give the better the chances are of someone understanding the problem and helping you.

 

Here's a few questions... are you using a discrete graphics or onboard? which one is the monitor plugged into? have you tired different cables/ports?

Just happened to me last week when building my new PC. I disconnected and reconnected the graphics card from the PCI-E slot and it started to work. Yeah and don't forget the PCI-E power connectors.

I am using a Z97 sabertooth, r9290x lightning from msi and a i7 4790. i checked everything, even tried to output video from my mobo, and my power button (in the case) turns the rig on, but not off.

today when i was installing the cpu i heard some cracks, maybe its that.

make sure the cables actually labeled pcie are the ones plugged into the gpu.  if you've got the wrong ones plugged in, it may not supply enough power.

an i didn't connect the molex, because i didn't find any to connect, so maybe it's that.

Check your Rig with a different monitor, maybe that's a problem (monitor has a seperate power switch maybe).. Check if the cables are properly secure @ both ends. post back if it doesn't work.

Did you try using the onboard gpu?
