Hello i want to upgrade my pc from a 3700x to something new, i already preorder a 9070xt and will have it by next month, my current PC is a 3700x with a 3070ti i play on 1440p i was thinking if i should get a 5700x3d since i have a tomahawk b450 max board or save up 4-5month and get a x870 board with a 9800x3d  or skip this generation and wait a year or more down the line, i don't plan on dying anytime soon so i can wait.

Get a 5700X3D and save up for a 10800X3D or whatever they call the next gen AMD CPU's.

5700X3D is only just bottlenecked by the 5090 at 1440p, you should be fine with that unless if all you play is racing sims, escape from tarkov, star citizen, and cities skylines.

Hello... I see that you possibly want to Upgrade or get a Whole New PC. Well I recommend that you get a New PC for a few reasons.

  1. The AM4 Socket is fairly old at this point, still very usable but with only a B450 Motherboard your options for Upgrading are very limited. Sure you "Can" throw in a R7 5700X3D but how far will that get you?
  2. You will be limited to only using PCIe 3.0 with the B450 Board. Even if you get a 5700X3D and get your RX 9070XT you will be 2 Generations Old on the PCIe Lanes and your RX 9070XT will not be running at the Full Speeds it was intended for and your Performance will be Cut a lot.
  3. You will be really Bottle-Necked between the CPU & GPU.

In short your B450 is too old to support a RX 9070XT properly, you WILL notice tons of issues so it's just not worth it. Also AMD has committed to using the AM5 Socket until at least 2027+. So if you get a B650 or B850 then it will support any CPU that AMD has and puts out until then.

So with that in mind I made you a Build List for a All New PC using the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Yes it's not the Flashy new 9800X3D but you don't really need the newer one to support the RX 9070XT fully, as long as the CPU & Motherboard Supports PCIe 5 then your good to go. I also centered the Build around the Montech Brand. They have Fantastic Parts that really look Amazing and they don't Break the Bank either.

For Maximum Airflow I added 2 Fan Packs that come with a Fan Hub. These Fans will line up on Top of the PSU Shroud and on the Inside Top of the Case.

Have a Look and let me know what you think. Please feel free to ask me any questions you might have. I can be reached much faster on Discord: Wizardsnapper#2772 as I have this open 24/7.

how long will this motherboard last me?

B450? It's past its expiration date and isn't worth investing more money into. A new B650 will last you at least the same time as the current one.
