1960X1080. Sorry I guess I should have included that. 240 refresh rate.

I've never heard of Kratos but this psu gives you ATX 3.1 while allowing for future gpu upgrades. I wouldn't bother upgrading your gpu for now seeing how the prices of video cards is insane atm. If you already have a decent aftermarket cpu cooler then disregard this one.

Budget (including currency): I plan to do this in stages but probably $1500.00

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming , New World Dune Awakening ,

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I have an MSI B650 PRO -P- Wifi
An AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8 core
32 gigs of Kingston KF552C70 DDR5-4800
an MSI M371 1 tb SSD
an RTX 4070
750 gold power supply. I think it is a kratos brand. I can find the exact model if that is needed I will get.
Currently I have a lot of lag and desync.
I built this two years ago and it worked great ( Well my brother did most of it.)until recently. All drivers are up to date.

Chat gpt recommends I get 32 gigs of 6000 32 ram, a 1000 watt gold power supply and a 5090 to upgrade my performance issues. That seems a little over kill. I as thinking most of these components were good for two more years. I am here asking should I upgrade and if you agree?
Thank you.

Alright so the cooler I have is Thermalright Peerless. The enermax AIO we put on when we built initially recently failed. I like the peerless. I can see the fans running.  CPU temps do go up to 80 Celsius but go back down quickly.

So you agree the ram and the power supply are probably my bottle necks? Thanks for the recommendation. I will look at that. Mightdo the ram this week..

RAM and I would change out that psu. Other than that you're gold.

So I am just trying to figure out what the difference is between the Ram I have and what is being suggested. I have Kingston KF552C40 DDR54800 16GB x2.

The suggested is Patriot Viper Venom 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Desktop Memory Model PVV532G600C30K

Everything I read makes them sound very similar.

I understand the power supply.

That Kingston RAM is dead slow ... like seriously slow. Games benefit from low latency RAM. You want a set of 2x16GB DDR5-6000 CL30 to alleviate that obvious bottleneck.

  • 4 weeks later...

Well I may have goofed. I order the ram . Two sets of it last week. Today they arrived. I put the sticks in 1 and 2 in slots 2 and 4 and sticks 3 and 4 in slots 1 and 3. Now it won't boot. It powers on. Led lights on everything come on

Should I just pull the ram back out?

AM5 doesn't work well with four sticks of RAM. You want a single set of RAM such as 2x16GB for example.

So lastnight I let it memory training for an hour after I removed two of the sticks of ram. I got frustrated at that point and turned the power off at the surge protect. I cleared cmos Tonight.  I booked in to the bios. Chose profile one . That was 15 minutes ago. I am starting to think I don't know as much as I thought.  I am beginning to think I should not have under taken this.
