My system is a few years old, and with DDR5 becoming the new standard, I believe it’s the right time for an upgrade. I’m looking to replace my motherboard, upgrade to DDR5 memory, and get a new GPU while keeping my current CPU since it still performs well. My power source is 1000W and I play game mostly like Satisfactory, Icrus, 7 Days To Die and like to get more better graphics in them. My budget is between $1,000 and $2,000 USD also my Monitor

is 1920 x 1080 x2 of them, and I’d love to hear recommendations on how to get the best value from this upgrade.

You cant keep your CPU

AM4 CPUs cannot under any (normal) circumstances use DDR5 as all their mobos use DDR4

WIth 2K $ you are better off just getting a new system (ie new everything but PSU and maybe case) and calling it a day

I edit my posts for so if you saw a typo.... no you didn't, you are just crazy

Cant really do much unless you give us some extra info like resolution you play at ( thx @Why_Me cause I almost forgot about resolution), the games you play, country (USA and AU use $ but are vastly different in pricing so that is a concern) any other tasks you might do other than gaming like using blender or Video editing etc etc

Sure I can make a general suggestion but with this little info I can also make a mistake/ suggest sub optimal components or in the case of the country I can make a list that is 2k usd but 5-6k aud ie nearly 3x your budget which makes it meaningless

After looking better at the OP's specs it looks like a simple gpu upgrade will work. What sucks is the timing ... gpu prices are insane atm.

Closest good deal would be an rx 7800xt (suprisgly still within reasonable prices) or we need to go used for a good deal on those

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LxjcmC

about 1.5K USD

You can fit a 9070xt but it is very scalped (gets you to about 1.75k) and I left empty the storage options as i assume youll reuse those and the case as I suggest you either re use the one you have or choose yourself as you have the budget and it is personal taste

It's a bad time to be purchasing a graphics card. The prices of gpu's should start to normalize within the next 4 - 6 weeks (crosses fingers).

For your resolution I would look at the RX 9070 16GB or RTX 5070 12GB. Either of those cards is a significant upgrade from your current gpu.

How about this change of an upgrade and all vs the old one I got.

Yeah sure it's a better pc but well it's also very high priced and your current system simply has something odd with it as well it shouldn't be running these games bad at all

Both and all.

Can you explain what you mean with lag? Stuttrering? The game hanging? Rubber banding issues? Are there differences between offline and online games?

As said the computer as is should just run the games fine at high settings. 7 days to die especially as that game runs at max settings on a decade old mid range pc.

Well it more building a PC than going on about this aspect so best to move from that and stay on topic for this thread.
