My CPU fan sits on 1200 RPM ALWAYS (or sometimes under that depending on the load). Ive tried going into the BIOS and setting up smart fan curves with PWM and DC curves but they do nothing
Im using the Jonsbo CR1200 with the R5 5600 Temps are fine for the most part until i start doing sustained multicore load

Specs:
MSI B350M Pro-VDH
R5 5600
RX 6700 XT
Corsair CX750M
16GB TeamGroup Elite+ 3200 CL20
and said Jonsbo CR1200 fan

Its plugged into the CPU Fan1 header on the board so idk what could be wrong aside from the BIOS potentially losing so much functionality across the plethora of updates that now i cant control the fan speeds anymore.

I tried Speedfan too and Fancontrol and they both cant detect the CPU fan (or even the case fan for that matter but it makes sense since im p sure its connected through Molex)

I was thinking of changing fans because of the temps but when i realized it had nothign to do with how good the fan was but instead the fact that the curve control wasnt working I thought maybe id face the same issue if I change CPU Coolers

Oh, found the answer:

You bought a cheap cooler, and you got a 3 pin fan with it.

That fan doesn't support PWM.

Check the BIOS to see if the CPU FAN header supports DC Control.  If not?  Replace the fan with a PWM Fan.

Is that really the issue? Ive tried the DC controls as well and they dont seem to make a difference.

Smth I thought was potentially causing it was that the system is incorrectly reading CPU temps. I know that in HWM its correct but ive heard that potential software from the Mobo company can override the readings.

Hardware Monitor?  That's garbage.

Get HWInfo64.  Way better.

But yeah, you cannot control a 3 pin fan  by PWM.  The 4th pin is what does PWM.

If you're replacing things, I'd get this instead of just replacing the fan:

It's a better cooler, and a better fan on the cooler, and it's PWM.  And it's not much more than you'll pay for a 120mm fan on its own.

Try DC control and try full speed to see if the fan reacts to full speed, it should change it's speed in BIOS.

try full speed DC control if the fan speeds up, it should speed up up to ~2000RPM at 100%

idk how much "full" DC control is but ive tried setting temp level 1 to 0 and DC level 1 to 800 or smth like that but the fans still run at 1100 - 1200.
When in DC tho the CPU fans do start spinning to max RPM for a few seconds at a time as the PC boots, idk if thats helpful at all

Ok I tested it out at max voltage and it instead sat at around 900 RPM instead... Ill try updating or downgrading my BIOS to see if that helps at all but I might just have to commit for a new CPU cooler

Try max fan speed at all temperatures.

How's the connector connected to the header?
