Hey,

I have a HP LaserJet M209dw printer that just won't work. I can open the printer's web interface without an issue.  I can add the printer to both a Mac and Windows laptop, but when I go to print, it just won't print.

Windows tells me the printer has an issue.  The web interface says:

Quote

A problem has occurred and you will be unable to print, except for printer reports, until the issue is resolved. Check your HP account for more information.

When I check my HP account it tells me nothing, other than the printer is offline.

I have tried wireless, wired ethernet and USB. They all tell me the printer is offline.

Any tips on how I can make this work?

The printer is a great little printer, except now when it isn't anymore.

Have you tried booting into Linux? I have a similar printer and never could make it work in Windows 10, it does however work perfectly in Linux.

Also I believe this was the same printer I have had an issue with new, and HP replaced it for me originally. It was a pretty painless process, they shipped me a new one after some troubleshooting, and sent me a return label.

Also there is a factory reset process. I believe IIRC it's holding the X button while powering it on (I would Google this). I've done this before when having issues. I have gotten this to print a couple times in Windows 11

Printer stopped working a little over a month ago, but just getting around to troubleshooting, it really.

I bought a cartridge right off of HP's Amazon store.  I did buy the high capacity one instead of the regular one. But it worked for a little while before it stopped working.

I had the auto firmware update feature turned on.

As for Linux, that doesn't work because of the users of the printer aren't going to switch. Already upset I don't shell out for a MS Office license and insist on using the free office alternatives.

I'll take a look to see if I still have the old cartridge laying around to see if it will print with it.
