Hello guys!

I have a i7-4790k and would like to do a stable oc, at least 4.6. But what voltage?

Do you have any tips for me regarding Oc settings to try (for my spec) and what upper limit I could reach considering a daily use for gaming?

My specs:

CPU: i7 4790K

MB: Gigabyte z97x gaming 3

CPU Noctua nh-d14 with one fan

Thanks in advance!

It's silicon dependent, there's no numeric answer

4.6GHz seems generally stable around 1.35V

Now this CPU is so old any crappy current CPU will crush it...

Mine used to be able to do 4.7GHz on 'Auto' voltage back in 2014/2015, but now it only does 4.5GHz. I don't remember the voltage bands for it however. On a Z97 Impact.

not what the op asked, imo the 4790k is still a great cpu and its quite easy to oc via bios (being that its the K variant). i believe you can use software like Intel xtu, but im not sure if it still supports it, i can check though.

Really hate when people hate on good things just because their older.

Thanks Jordan. Yeah, can't afford anything else right now, wish I had a 13-14 gen. It does support xtu.

btw click the button with the arrow next to the report sign to reply.

but yeah ive been in pcs for a minute now and its insane to me how much people dont realize some people just cant afford the best thing. ig high end hardware kinda desensitizes people.

Oh thanks, haha. First time on this forum, didn't realize that's how you respond. Lol.
