depends on a lot of things, how far away would you be from the access point? is it using the 5Ghz band? if you are really serious about shaving down your ping just go with a standard network cable; its cheaper, more reliable and faster.

Just answer my one simple question. Don't worry about anything else.

But it depends on what reception you would be getting, and what frequency you are using. They will determine the answer. If you get a good signal with a wireless AC or N 5Ghz then wifi is going to be about equivalent of a half decent power-line adapter.

I told you not to worry about anything else. In general, what should be better?

if the power lines are verry long and if they have to go through a lot of circuit breakers and/or bad wiring in your house (or really ancient houses with ancient wiring), then you could be better off with wifi, IF your wifi reception isn't blocked too much by metal or if it is too far away.

but generaly, if you don't know about any of these, then go for powerline. normally a powerline should be faster

powerline should probably be better but keep in mind you can't use them with power extensions always use the wall plug.

it does sometimes work with power cable extensions, but it really isn't recommended as it will lose its signal faster. in this case it usually is better to use a longer ethernet cable

It depends on many things, in some cases WiFi can be just as fast as Powerline, for example in my case, I got a Linksys WRT1900AC and I got a Intel 7260 AC Wireless card in my laptop using the 5GHz band, I get almost the exact same pingtime and speed as powerline.

Of course it depends on the client and the router as well as how close you are to the router. But usually with AC routers using the 5GHz band, you can be anywhere in the house and still get good reciption. That's if your client supports AC wireless

I'd go with powerline if there are too many obstructions from your access point to the computer....or else, wifi wins :)

there are to many factors here that might ruin things, like the material, isolation and distance of powerline there is, same counts for wifi there are to many variations, like the speed, type of connection, distance etc.

but if you want it simple, none of these, just go with the old trusty ethernet cable, since i can't speak about the variations mentoined above(in mine and other posts) it is much faster and trust worthy.

May the light have your back and your ISO low.
