Just built my first PC, build went great (well it's still sitting on my MOBO box). But I can't install windows and I can't find anyone with this issue.

Specs:

Ryzen 5 7600

Rx 7600 XT

MSI Pro B650M-A WIFI

32GB Ram

The problem:

I'll have a YT video linked but basically I try and boot off the USB and it flashes windows logo and sometimes the loading circle then goes black again.

YT video:

What I've tried:

Different USB and USB slot

Windows 10 and 11

Rufus and windows media download

One ram stick

Reset CMOS

Re flashed bios

(And yes.... YES, ITS SET AS FIRST BOOT PRIORITY)

Any help is greatly appreciated. this is driving me insane.

Edit: one thing I'll try is plugging in the GPU, It arrived late so Im just running off CPU graphics as I didn't see a point in installing till windows installed.

And that's ok. You'll be able to install Windows without the GPU as soon as the issue is resolved.

Did you check which version of BIOS your motherboard is running ? It is possible that you need a BIOS update for running the ryzen 5 7600. Just follow the instructions in the manual for flashing a new BIOS, it should be easy and takes only a few minutes.

Good luck !

Thanks for the response!

Well I got a bigger problem now... I ran memtest86 and it crashed at 42% and now when I turn it on there is no video output.

And about the flash, I found a MSI support page listing CPUs and corresponding bios versions. Will it only work on that version?

This is usually the minimum version. So, your CPU will work on minimum version and all those that were released after.

Bigger problem but probably easier to solve.

Make sure that your CPU is supported by your BIOS (or flash the appropriate BIOS). As soon as your CPU is supported, then it's time for RAM testing.

Try using only one stick and use memtest86 again. Then with the second stick. Are the RAM sticks still putting out errors ? If both sticks are bad, test them in another computer to make sure then return or exchange. If both sticks are good, then you are ready to install Windows 🙂 If only one is bad, it's your choice. But you should probably return or exchange both sticks and get a new set.

Have a nice day !
