Budget (including currency): 1000

Country: US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Elden Ring, Marvel Rivals, Path of Exile 2, Premier Pro, After Effects, Blender, lots of video editing type of work, occasional gaming.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Im looking to upgrade my first PC, built it about 5 years ago now;

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600

GPU: Gtx 1660 Ti

MB: B450 Steel Legend

RAM: Crucial Ballistix 3600 MHz DDR4 16GB (8GBx2)

MONITOR: LG Ultragear 24GL600F-B 24 Inch

PS: EVGA 600 BR, 80+ Bronze

Def was a budget build, good enough to run most games I played, but more recently I have started to do a lot more video editing and even more fx work on After Effects and I have been running into big issues.

Any advice as to what I should upgrade first? Or should I just consider building a new system entirely?

Anything helps, thanks!

I'd throw in a Ryzen 5600 for $115.

Couple that with GPU of choice, like a 4070 Super 12GB or a 7900XT 20GB.

Before grabbing a 5700X3D for $260, I'd try the 5600 for less than half that.  Still a very decent CPU.

May want to look into upgrading to AM5 if that suits you.

Either way, yoiu'll want to uprgade that PSU.  Something like a 850w Gold would be nice.

Ask your employer for a work pc. If he asks for a shark loan, get a Chromebook for dedicated video and 3d rendering. And suddenly you can keep playing on your trusty machine.

Would you recommend upgrading the motherboard as well? I saw that it was possible to just do a BIOS update for the b450 to work with the 5700, but does it have any limiting factors? Thanks again def looking into these parts.
