Messing about with strings in PHP, need help

[Alex(PlayMedium)]

Ok, I'll keep it simple, I am having trouble with something I have to do in php. Here is the situation:

I get two strings, like this:

"Linus"; "Sebastian"

And then I want to get a shot version of that as a string like this:

"LinSeb"

So, the first three letters form the first string and then the first three letters from the second string into a new string.

Can you guys help me with this please?

To get substrings use http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.substr.php

 

Then to add the strings together use str1 . str2

[Ciccioo]

use substr and the string concatenation operator (the dot '.')
