When I first got my 290, I immediately went into MSI afterburner and made a really aggressive fan profile to keep temps down. However, I've gotten a bit sick of how loud it is and I'm struggling to get a decent fan profile. So I decided to go into the driver and lower the temperature target to 80 C and raised the max fan speed to 100%. It the raised the fan to 100% and left it there even though the GPU was at 56 C. Anyone know how to fix this? May should I just try the 14.6 beta?
