So I purchased a second hand GigaByte wind force 980ti and it seemed to be working fine at first when I was upgrading my pc

I installed a few new parts:

980ti

650w p650g 80 plus gold rated PSU

16gb of DDR4 Ram

Everything posted and worked and I had it at 4k with my 4k 60hz monitor until I posted a game and it crashed the whole pc remained on but the gpu crashed and the lights powered off and when I restarted the pc it all went back to normal

I ran a few benchmarks and it would mabye stay working for a few minutes then bang it crashed again

Solutions I tried:

No overclock

DDU driver reinstall

the temps on the card are good and when I dial the resolution down to 1440p it seems to work perfectly

I just don’t understand why it crashed and I want to make sure its not on its way out as I’m aware it’s quite an old card

PC Specs (if it helps)

MSI A320m a pro m.2

Ryzen 5 4600g

16gb DDR4

980ti

p650g PSU

standard 256gb SSD

VA2762 4k 60hz display

What game?

If 1440p works, have you tried seeing if it's VRAM overflow or something?

How much temps exactly are you getting?

What program(s) for temps do you use?

It was a game called tiny glade

eh the temps are normal ranging from 65 to 75 degrees and I’m using the official gigabyte software for the card to actually see the temp

To be honest after a bit of research it could very well be a vram overflow. Any tips how I can stop that from happening as it works good on a lower resolution

does it track hotspot temps?

lower graphics settings, VRAM scales with resolution and graphics settings
