Hi

I have a MSI Z790 Edge mobo, during cleaning the plastic cilp on the motherboard that locks the GPU in came off and i cant get it to go back on, i have put the GPU back in without the clip, and it still works, will this be OK to use for now? i dont want it to bend any pins on my GPU

Thanks

Its fine.聽 This is actually quite common 馃檪
You are definitely not the first to break that clip!

You can use the PC as normal without worrying, just screw it at the back into the case.

It has just crashed, is it likely I have broken something, my gpu was sagging so I pushed it up level to put a bracket umder it and that is when the clip come off

That might be the case yes.聽 If you pushed it up too far to put a bracket under it you might have damaged something.

Its very bad luck if you have, GPU's are quite durable and so are motherboards

The clip itself is not necessary for the card to run.

Take the card out and take a few close up pictures of the golden pins that go into the motherboard, lets see if there are any damage.

Same with the motherboard PCIE.

Thanks for you help i have figured out the problem i think, it seem to be the pcie slot, from what i can the gpu pins are fine,聽 i have managed to get the clip back onto the mobo {albeit temporary) and its working fine for now, but it only works when the gpu is slightly sagging (i tried it on a old mobo and it work fine)

I will be buying a newmobo soon

Thanks
