The hdd I use to hold my big files and games stopped working. It is picked up by the bios but it doesn’t appear anymore in windows. It’s not in device manager, disk manager or anything else. I have swapped the power and sata cable with the ssd I use to boot and the ssd loaded right up and worked fine. I even tried a back up hdd I have and windows doesn’t see it but bios does. The drive was fine dec 31 2024 but stopped showing up when I booted up on Jan 2 2025. Any ideas would be great

Welcome to the forums!
Can you test it in another PC?
Did you make any changes to the PC? Add a new M.2?

Does it show up in diskpart?

  • open CMD
  • type "diskpart"
    enter
  • type "list disk"
    enter

I didn’t make any changes to the pc before the issue came up, and I unfortunately don’t have another pc to test the drive in. I will try what you suggested once I get home from work later tonight.

Just got home and did what was suggested and it only lists the boot ssd there.

The computer does not see the drive at all, there is NO DIY possible, if the data is important, send it to a data recovery shop.
