I've got a budget of $950 CAD (660 USD)

It'll be paired with a 5700X3D (full build https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/wPq4pK)

I'll be using it for playing racing games at 4K low-medium at 60fps (assetto corsa and iracing) and esports games on 1080p at high-max at 144 fps

I was thinking of the current or a 4070 Super or 7800 XT maybe the speculated 9070 XT or 5070

Any suggestion helps

Thanks!

Well, CES with Nvidia's and AMD's Keynote is 5 days away so lets wait and see what they announce.

However, just because new cards are coming doesn't make the older cards worse.

I have been simracing for 2 decades and I have had most luck with Nvidia + Gsync monitor in terms of framerate and stability.

I have a friend with an AMD GPU and he is perfectly happy playing Assetto Corsa too.

Its a tough choice!  I think 16GB of VRAM will help in Assetto Corsa EVO.

Its a great build though with either card as they perform very equal to one another.

Thanks for the info!

my 1080p monitor is G-sync compatible but my GTX 1080 can't support it

I guess i'll just hope that the 5070 has 16gb of vram or the 5070 ti is in my price range.

If not i'll just wait for the 4070 ti super to go to $950 CAD instead of the current $1150.

i assume you just upgraded your existing platform and this isnt an all new build? cause am4 doesnt really make sense these days aside from being an ultrabudget option with the cheap boards and the x3ds not being affected at all by lower end boards given the vrms are good enough, but looking at the build the components look straight out of 2021 so ill just assume you just dropped in a 5700x3d

for something right now then used 6950xt or 3090 though if you want to wait it out then definitely 9070xt as itll likely demolish the 6950xt in terms of value, apparently performance is likelly to be somewhere inbetween the 7900xt and 7900xtx

heres some benchmarks for reference and if the 9070xt atleast gets to 7900xt performance itll still beat the 6950xt in value since its a new card but closer to the 7900xtx and the 6950xt is just obselete especially if its reasonably priced cause afaik in cad 6950xt is somewhere around the 600-800$ range used
