Good day.

I am a first time NAS buyer but I am on a strict budget.

I live in Namibia and would like to get a NAS driver to serve as a media server for photos and videos my wife and I take. Incase a phone gets stolen or lost.

Can anybody get me a good recommendation on one with at least 2 bays.

Regards and thanks

Not knowing your budget, I will just send some Ideas..

If you are ok with taking maybe an old desktop pc or even building a pc for a server, you can make a decent system using something like Trunas. Old Desktop, you may want to add more storage depending on what's already in there..

If you don't really want to go down the path of building or tinkering with your own server build, you could go with a pre-build. Synology has been around for a while and makes pretty nice systems. You will want to buy your own drives but it comes with an OS that tends to be a little more intuitive than other server OSs

UGreen is another  consumer NAS company just like Synology. UGreen is newer I think so there software may not be as tuned, but not bad enough for me not to recommend it. I would seriously consider there NAS boxes.

Never used them myself but I've heard of them before. Biggest thing to look out for will be making sure you get CMR drives.

You don't want SMR for a NAS.
