So, I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my mother's computer speakers.  They've been working for years without an issue, but (according to her) stopped working after a recent Windows 11 update.

I've attempted removing and reconnecting the cables, re-installing drivers, running troubleshooters, and several other things to no effect (as well as looking into things like making sure cables are connected, the speaker is properly selected and isn't muted, etc.)

I might think the speakers were just dead, but there's one thing:  These speakers can connect both over USB and over bluetooth.  My mom's computer doesn't have bluetooth (I checked)... but if the speakers goes into Pairing Mode (as if they were trying to connect via bluetooth), they start working again... until pairing mode quits, at which point they quit working again.

Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this?  Or at least what might be causing the problem (hardware, software, firmware, etc.)?

Editing in some details:  Not sure of the model, but my mother's computer is an Origin PC with an AMD 3800x processor, I THINK less than 2 years old (though I was not involved with the purchase, and so I'm not sure).  Computer is running Windows 11 (though I'm not sure which update my mother installed that "caused" this).  The specific speaker model is linked here.

Just to be clear, the speakers refuse to output anything except for when it's in the middle pairing mode?

The speaker does not output anything when it's connected to an audio source via USB or 3.5mm input or RCA input?

Have you tried the other input options?

Have you tried the other input options with other known-working devices?

If the problem is that USB no longer works, a cheap solution is to just get the $9 Apple USB-C to headphone adapter, and then connect it to the speakers via either a  3.5mm to 3.5mm cable or 3.5mm to dual-RCA cable.

Or if you haven't even tried the computer's Line Out port yet, then you can try that too. It's the lime-green port on the motherboard and typically it provides a clean audio output signal.

Correct, the speakers refuse to output anything except for when it's in the middle of pairing mode.  It does work when in pairing mode, even though the computer it is receiving audio from has no bluetooth for it to pair with, so that audio MUST be coming from the USB connection.

I have not tried other input options, nor have I tried using other known-working devices, because I didn't have any handy when I was at my mom's house (though I will try that the next time I get a chance, if we don't find a solution before then).  I will add that I was able to get her computer to output sound through her monitor, so it is able to send out sound to some things -- just, apparently, not to these speakers.
