So I run a tech support business in the Riverina NSW Australia and had a customer that purchased a cash register from Ebay that they wanted programmed. before I arrived and helped they apparently had 2-3 other computer repair technicians in the area take a look and they weren't able to help. When I took a look at the register they didn't have a manual and the spot on the back for the model number was blank. I was able to program it through trial and error adding each menu item as an individual PLU for them to type the number in and hit PLU button for it to add the items.

They were happy with that at first, then came back to me asking if I can change how it works to make it  easier for the clients mother to use (she had trouble with the PLU process). I changed it so it would work through the DEPT buttons but since it was limited to 36 DEPT buttons i had to consolidate/condense the menu to keep similar priced items together and programming them to work with the DEPT keys (I didn't charge them for the reprogramming as I counted it as a warranty job since the mother couldn't use the register).

They were happy with that for a while until recently they called asking if I can change it a third time to (from my understanding) Input the price and press the item? (I don't quite understand what they mean). Given I have only been able to program this through trial and error so far and my actual knowledge on POS Systems is mostly limited to usage as a cashier, Changing it to the new system may take several hours to figure out alone. If anyone has any experience with the cash register and could lend a hand with programming it in the way the customer wants that would be greatly appreciated!!!

I'm Tempted at this point just to set them up with a Square system or equivalent and save the future hassle of working with this register but that'll cost them upwards of $1000.

Thanks in advance!

the reason it doesn't have a make or model number is because it is a very very cheapo generic cash register you can get on amazon for 94$

please for the sake of humanity upgrade them to something newer , they shouldn't be relying on that cheapo outdated thing for a business
