Hi,

I am in the middle of my rebuild and am trying to work out whether I should remove the 5 1/4 bays. I just have to drill out a few rivets. I am using a fan controller but I am sure I will be able to make it stay with out the cage.

If I don't remove it it will make filling  (the ress which will be bolted to rad in the front) very hard.

if its not a problem i would take it out. and you could get a t-balancer and do away with the fan controller

Yeh I was going to originally take it off but I though that I could not fit the rad on with it still there but I can.

I also don't have any money lest atm to get a t-balancer.

Ya I'd say ditch it, how often do you actually need to have a 5.25 drive installed in a system for more than a half hour when you first install the OS?

ditch 'em..

wire the fans to the PSU with 12v, 7v, or 5v reducers.. or build a remote

enclosure for the fan controller in a different location..

Well it is gone, was more tricky than i first thought. I think i will switch the fans around and have them pulling air through rad at front. Will line up better.
