So I followed @Erik4boss's advice and opened some CS GO crates. 

 

Apparently, I got a knife from the first eSports case I opened

Yeah, I know. I opened couple of cases after that and got some "meh" guns. I usually just open cases when I can't afford anything else and never get anything.

Lucky, I've openned quite a few cases (~20 or so) and have gotten nothing but blue guns. Fortunately, I haven't blown much real money on them, I just sell guns/cards and open cases when I save up some change lol

That's nice, after the Australlium weapons were released for MvM in TF2 I got 3 of them in my first 4 matches. I converted one of them into Buds, and the Buds into Keys, and get 2 Unusual hats from just 5 cases. Sold all the rest of the keys and the items on the community market for a few hundred bucks, and this was during the Holiday sale last year so I got a shit ton of games. There were a lot of angry people in my TF2 clan that week.

But I think that lower ranks get better items. Mrtweeday (a guy who does a crap ton of case openings) did an experiment with lower ranked accounts and got significantly better items.

I doubt that is true though. People say that low levels (I'm the first silver myself) get better stuff, but I only get like blue esport crates, winteroffensive cases and FAMAS colony. The stuff that is worth something is traded.

No I am talking from opening crates and not drops. Everyone gets those items. Valve carefully controls drops to regulate the market economy but I still suspect crate drop statistics are biased to lower ranks.

Nope, random is random is random. There is money involved with the crate and key system, so Valve would be subject to a lawsuit if they favored one group of players over another and didn't openly disclose that fact. Also, if that was true, the people who make a living off sales and trades would buy an extra copy of the game just to open crates with.

Let me put it this way. I KNOW that valve regulates drops(the amount dropped but maybe not who gets drops), however the rank bias is the only thing I am uncertain about. But it makes sense for Valve to do that anyway because if low ranked players get good items it gives them incentive to keep playing. And good players also might buy multiple accounts for drops which is also good for them.
