Cpu (12600kf)

MOBO (asus tuf B660-Plus wifi D4

Gpu (7800xt)

I've recently ran into a problem with my cpu (12600kf) where for some reason it will only boost to 4.2 ghz rather than its rated 4.9. This has been a problem that has occurred recently and has come about by the following steps.

Before this, it had come to my attention that my cpu was only boosting to 4.5 which was odd because it's rated 4.9. it only turboed to this speed and never above not even by a little. It is the same for how it is now with 4.2. Originally, I tried to OC to 5.1 but realized i couldn't dew to intel being intel with their chipsets but still wanted to change it to run at 4.9 as again it wasn't. All this info was observed in Task Manager. i went into the bios to change the CPU Core Ratio setting to make them all sync and run at 4.9 and same for the E cores running at their max 3.6 I think it was. After this change i saved and went into my account to stress test the system and then it only boosted to 4.2 down from 4.5. I didn't change the core voltages in any way as I shouldn't need to as it's just the rated frequency. i tried to go back in a try and fix this but no dice and it hasn't gone been able to boost back up to any higher sadly. I updated my bios to the most recent one as of like two days ago but still no change. I also don't have the Cpu Core Ration bios setting and have it set back to auto and they the cpu only goes to 4.2 still.

I've also noticed that since a previous bio update i did a while ago to solve game crashing, the mouse has become extremely laggy and choppy in the bios and same with the arrow key movement being laggy. I've kinda just delt with it and I thought it was just a bugged bios update but I recently updated them to the new ones and still laggy and choppy.

I've looked everywhere for a solution and still nothing for my problem, so I've decided to take this to the pros.

If you could help me solve at least the turboing problem that would be greatly appreciated.

than its rated 4.9

This is single core boost, intel played a trick on specs, this means it can only reach this speed with 1 core underload, unless you go on a Z board and toggle multipliers

then it only boosted to 4.2 down from 4.5

Now this is not normal, with my mobo it's supposed to run 4.48/4.49ghz on P cores under load.

Please don't use task manager and use other tools like hwmonitor to monitor speeds for each core, because intel uses hybrid structure, task manager cannot do a resumee of p and e core speeds

If problem persists and the P cores just can't hit 4.48/4.49 ghz reset bios to defaults, if it still can't reach then theres probably something wrong with mobo/cpu/cooler solution

i have reset my bios, that being when i updated it, but i did replace my AIO with a 240 EKWB nucleus and on top of that installed a contact frame, but i changed the settings in bios before this happened. and it still perists.

Download Throttlestop, check on "Limits" and see which part is stopping it from boosting

id tried throttle stop, and it says that when under stress im getting 4.5 constant but with some odd findings.

sorry for the late response i had exam block period.

in hardware info it says that the (Core Clock) is 4.05ghz, (Core effective Clock) reads 4.2ghz however it does say that the maxium reached was 4.5 but doesnt say this in its active speed while under load at all. however (Average effective Clock) is 4.3ghz, sooooo im kinda lost, it still doesnt say its going at 4.5 in TM like it did, even tho the bios has it clearly labeled that its set at 4.5 max speed when looking at AI tweaker. Ive listed the recording from throttlestop and and hardware info, both being tested by using R24.

There's a "limits" button and you'll see the throttle reasons

Your screenshot shows the CPU max temp as 96C..   That is high and could be part of your problem.  I believe intel limit the turbo frequency once you get to 85 or 90C..  Improving the CPU temperature will probably help.

EDP is usually power delivery, one possibility is the VRMs on the motherboard are too hot, could be related to your CPU Temp.   Does your case have good ventilation?

yes then temps are not ideal i have noticed that

im rocking noctua fans in a fractical north and their set to resonable speeds. however

i have installed a new cooler that being the EKWB necleus lux edition with noctua fans instead of the stock ones.

the installation went well?, but i also installed a contact frame and i installed it as you do but i dont know if i did anything wrong or not as it was my first time for both. maybe i tighted something down to hard or not hard enough. but besides that it still doesnt solve the turboing problem so im dumb out luck here. also fortnite just doesnt run at all now so yeah that so ive opened another tread asking for help on that.
