When Playing any game it randomly crashes, the game freezes and the audio bugs out. The screen then goes to black but the computer stays on and restarts.

This has happened before and was temporarily fixed by doing a clean install of the graphics drivers and Ge force experience. I have tried other solutions to no success

specs:

GTX 1660 SUPER

AMD Ryzen 5 5600

16GB RAM 3200 XMP enabled

GEN 3 B550 MSI Mother Board

600W PSU

Windows 11 Home

Solutions I've tries:

  • Used a DDU to completely reinstall my graphics drivers
  • Underclocked my GPU
  • Changed my Nvidia drivers to studio ones (switched them back to game ready)
  • Taken my GPU out cleaned it a bit and reinstalled it
  • Updated BIOS/firmware
  • Rolled back drivers to Months old (currently using newest after using DDU in safe mode)
  • Changed settings in my NVidia control panel

All of it hasn't worked it still crashes maybe its not do with my GPU but when I check the minidump file it does already say its caused by nvidialmk.sys or something similar and also has to do with TDR failure.

Ill try any suggestion

if the problem is with your gpu, changing the drivers around isnt gonna do much to fix it, run a prolonged gpu stress test and see if that triggers the crash
if so lower your gpu clock speed and try again

also i think that goes without saying but if you have a gpu overclock, disable it

Ask a friend to borrow his pc for troubleshooting parts.

Put your 1660 in his pc, put his gpu in yours.

That way you can be more sure if it's your 1660 that is faulty or not.
