I currently... Well sort of drive a surface Book 2 I love it when it works. I've replaced the connector located in the hinge, replaced the keyboard (missing a few pins so not great, but usable), and today I found out the battery in the tablet is shot. Because of that it has difficulties staying on if tablet is not plugged directly into power. I'm not sure how much more I should put into the SB2 and just want some help deciding, or should I just put it to rest and move on to framework?

And if I get a framework how good have they been at getting upgrades, fixes, and things like that. I'm not upgrading because of hardware (CPU, GPU, Etc) I'd be "upgrading" because of the battery. I know this is a super repairable laptop and I can hopefully keep it for years to come, but considering how far technology has come and where it is today, will I be able to use the same keyboard track pad bezel etc when I need an upgrade? Also if they come out with a touchscreen which is something I do like a lot, will they ensure older models can use it? I'm looking at the 16", and if their goal is to provide a highly repairable/upgradeable machine for premium dollars I want to know this thing will be with me for a very long time.

thus far, Framework has been holding to a good standard across their products, making it so that the entire device should be compatible with most any of the other products in their suite.

If in the future, you need a new battery again, I highly doubt they would be making batteries that are incompatible with current Framework models. Same goes for new motherboards, CPUs, etc. You shouldn't expect to have to replace the "frame" as it were.

On the other hand, nobody can see the future, so treat this the same you would treat any investment: one with potential risk in the outcome.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B
