Should I swap Cases?

Go to solution Solved by Totally-A-Hero,

Honestly think you are a bot now... As I said I am already set on a case. And my current PC is over heating, I need a solution that makes sense now.

Ok i understand now.Its up to you moving your parts over might help you get some experince putting a PC together if your new at this.

Okay so I plan to be building a new system once I get some money, Here is what I have decided on based on some help from the forums. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/3R70x

I am currently running a Acer Aspire M1201, My dad bought me it years ago when it came out and I loved it!

I recently swapped out the graphics card as it was dying. so I have a Radeon HD 5450 in it.

My question is would I benefit from purchasing the new system case now and Swapping my current system into it? Could I even do that?
I can afford the case now and It might be a while till I can get the new system. I would imagine it would run cooler and quieter.
Also the new case would be a Antec GX500 ATX Mid Tower Case.

Thanks in advance guys!

I should also note Open Hardware Monitor says everything is running at about 40-50C (Yikes)

I would get a better case when you build that system linked as that case is average with high quality parts, don't jump the gun.

From my experience, get a good case the first time, I had a $60 case when I first built then a year later I upgraded to a C70 by Corsair and it is so much better, more cable management, cooler temps, better build, more rad mounting, more better in general. The case was the biggest mistake I made on the initial build so I would say a get a good one.

Edit: Your temps however are fine.

For sure, my GPU when overclocked got upto 80c with the stock cooler and that is technically in spec range but I put a water cooler on it to bring it back down and keep it silent. So your temps are fine and I would not upgrade a case untill you think you have to.

Okay so is the 40-50C a good temp? O.o

Thats fine if you were getting 80 I would say definitely need a new case, considering you are using an Acer pre-built....

This ^ I upgraded my old rig to a HAF 922 off a mate which was great (as it was $10) but when I did my build I got a C70 and it is a massive improvement.

It's worth getting a great case first time around unless you are going to re-use/need another case for your old pc.

Hey guys I know this was kinda solved already but I am still concerned my CPU cores are spiking up to 60-70C it was a cold day today as well about 25C later in the summer it gets to about 40C And that will affect my computer temps allot seeing that my dad is too cheap to turn on AC. xD I could invest in some case fans and move them over to my new build once I can afford it. So what would be better? More fans then move them over. New case then move my new build into that later on? Or do nothing a hope? :P

Edit: I feel like I should point out that I am getting these temps with Skype up and 2 chrome tabs, 1 running linus tech tips vids. :P

Best value case on market watch Hardware Canucks video on it.

I don't want to invest in a new case for a old build if I'm going to get a new build and case in a few months. I have a case picked now for my new build, I'm wondering if I should get it now and move my current build into it then move it out and use the case in my new build.

That's what I thought. I have a old clunker that was my sisters and I have fiddled around with it a bit but never touched the Motherboard. So do you think it would help lower my temps? Make it run a bit faster as well?
