Memory Compatibility

It's compatible in the sense that it will physically work in the board. Most 12th gen CPUs can run DDR5-6000 on two sticks, so in that respect, your odds that it will work is very good. I would not hesitate to buy a kit like that.

 

But, if you are looking for a solid guarantee of "this kit that isn't listed as working by the manufacturer of the motherboard will still 100% work in your motherboard regardless" no one can really give that to you. At best, someone who has your same board, CPU, and that kit can say "it worked for me" but that's just an anecdote. The QVL support list on the motherboard is the only official guide, although I have always been willing to YOLO it and try based on community wisdom regarding whether RAM will work, and that has worked for me in the vast majority of cases.

Hey. I currently have the DOMINATOR® PLATINUM RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 DRAM 5600MT/s CL36 Memory Kit.

I would like to add 2 more sticks to have 64GB. I want to get this one: DOMINATOR® PLATINUM RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 DRAM 5600MT/s CL36 Memory Kit.

Will this be compatible? When checking the memory support list on the website, the model I currently have is listed with "Memory socket support" 1 and 2 (without 4).

Not sure if this means it probably will work but gigabyte didn't test it, or it probably won't work, or something else?

A lot of memory controllers for DDR5 can't handle running 4 sticks at full XMP/EXPO speeds.

 

What CPU do you have? 

 

If it's an AMD 7000 or 9000 series CPU, there is a reasonable chance that 4 sticks will not be able to run at DDR5-5600 speed, and will need to be downclocked to work together.

 

With Intel, your odds are better, but it's still not guaranteed.

I have a 12900k with a z690 aorus ultra.
And it seems you're suggesting at least that the sticks are compatible with each other so that aspect shouldn't be a problem?

You should be able to use all 4 sticks together if you need the capacity. The question is whether you'll be able to use XMP.

 

Officially, the 12900K only supports DDR5-4800, and that means that you may need to downclock the memory to that speed to get it to work with all 4 sticks installed. You may even have to go lower than that in practice, even if in theory it should work at DDR5-4800. Of course, you might be able to do better - if you're lucky, you'll turn on XMP and it'll just work. However, it's not guaranteed.

I see. So I might just upgrade to 2x32. Is this one good and compatible? it is not listed on the memory support list of this motherboard.
