yeah there's no reason not to, at worst they'll tell you it's ok and send it back

Thanks!

Also, since I remembered I was wondering whether or not 12v-2x6 worked both ways (since the ends look exactly the same), I ended up switching the ends of the cable and everything worked. What likely happened is that I hadn’t fully plugged it into the PSU, and the gpu turned on the lights via PCIe port but no power was getting to it via the PSU… I would’ve burnt down the house if it was the older connector, I assume 😭

Seems like it’s always the little things, thank you so much for your help and patience!

Hi, I just bought a few PC parts to upgrade from my ryzen 1600 and 1060 6gb, but I haven’t been able to get it to display a signal. Here’s some info on my system so that hopefully someone can help me:

The Upgrade + Components:

Ryzen 1600 -> Ryzen 5700x3D (with a new cooler, and I do have the BIOS version to support it on my B350-F motherboard)

1060 6gb -> MSI 4070 Ti (B grade, as in not in its original box)

Corsair CS550M -> Phanteks AMP GH 750W 80+ Gold

Asus B350-F gaming (BIOS version 6203 i believe)

2 different RAM kits (that worked together fine before the upgrade):

  • 2x 8GB (16GB) DDR4 TeamGroup CL16 3200Mhz T-Force Vulcan Z
  • Team Group (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000MHz T-Force Dark Silver

The Problem:

PC won’t give any signal to the monitor. My peripherals all light up and when I unplug the DP cable to plug it into another port, the monitor does recognize that something changed and just displays “no signal” again

What I’ve tried:

  • Unseating and reseating all the RAM sticks
  • Using only one RAM stick
  • Taking the CMOS battery out, holding the power button down for a while and plugging everything back in
  • Replacing the 4070 Ti with the 1060 (However, I did use the other PSU for power, since I don’t want to have to plug it into the one already inside the case because of the different cables, if that matters)
  • Ungodly combinations of all the above

Are there any other things I can try before I have to reseat the CPU? Could my 24-pin or CPU cables not be properly plugged in?

Any help would be appreciated :’)

seems there's no power does fan spin up

try to go back to your old PSU and GPU so you don't fry anything also yes you need to change the psu cables

and for the 24 pin just eye check it if it's clicked in you should be good to go

All the fans spin up (except GPU and PSU, because they’re not being used. I also tried turning the PSU’s Hybrid mode off)

Just jerry rigged the connections to the old PSU for the CPU, the 24-pin, SATA for the boot drive and the 1060, but I still get the same symptoms, except the light near the CPU is green instead of white now. I might swap the CPU and see what happens, since I think there’s not much else to swap around :’)

fuck im stupid

your BIOS is unsuported, you need to go back to your old cpu and update

my bad your bios is ok ASUS reached new level of stupid

Ok so update: after changing out the CPU, I finally managed to boot the PC up into the BIOS

Should I update the BIOS again even knowing my version is compatible, do I try with the old CPU but with the new GPU and PSU?

As in power EVERYTHING with the old psu or only the 1060? Because if you only powered the 1060 that wont work.

yep if you can you should try the new cpu in different mobo

Alright so with 1600 + the new PSU and GPU, still a white light near the cpu and no signal on the monitor

Plus it shut itself down after a little over a minute

i should mention that when I tried with the old components, it said the pc needed to be repaired because it couldn’t access something in the boot drive, but I’m pretty sure everything was connected properly

Yeah I had a feeling I had seen someone do something similar, for some reason, but I quickly gave up on that

After DandaCze’s reply, I actually started using the old PSU to power boot drive+24 pin+gpu+cpu and it KINDA worked:

Ok so remove the boot drive and use the 4070 again. I think its just fastbooting into a broken driver windows.

Same as when I had the boot drive.

Starting to think maybe I should throw in the towel and actually get the new PSU’s cable for the 1060, try to correct whatever the boot drive’s got going on so I can get into Windows and properly uninstall the 1060’s drivers. Not entirely sure about what’s wrong with the 5700x3d either but I’m assuming that’ll come last

are there more lights? or just send picture with pc off

also your pc looks great

Here’s pics of unplugged, plugged but off and with it turned on (since it’s still 1600+1060 it’s giving me a green light and POSTing, just no Windows because I unplugged the boot drive)

Also, thanks! Ignore the front fans, this case is a mess to open up and clean ;v;

there should be 4 leds like this

Here you go!

Seems to me that it goes orange, red, white and then green when it successfully posts.

Right now I have the 1600 and 1060 installed with the new PSU so my problem is the boot drive not getting detected, which also happened when I plugged it into the old PSU. I’m gonna go get a USB drive to use as a boot thinga-majig which I assume will help my case.

After solving that I think my gameplan will be to just uninstall all the 1060 drivers I might have and possibly update the BIOS

also it's getting late here so i'll to explain it to you:

top light - problem with booting

second top - problem with GPU

second bottom - problem with RAM

bootom light - problem with CPU

I’m beginning to think the 5700x3d had no problem at all then, since it either had a white (4070) or green (1060) light, but I had no output since i was still hooking only the 1060 up to the old PSU.

I’ll try recovering Windows from a thumbdrive to see if it’ll recognize the sdd! Thank you for your help 😄

As it turns out, I only needed to turn off CSM in the BIOS and that apparently fixed my SSD problem, I think my boot device order was also not the correct one

Then I uninstalled the 1060’s drivers, updated a few drivers on the motherboard for good measure and turned off the PC

I switched to the 4070 Ti, and… it stops at the white LED, so I guess she’s the problem. I’ll switch to the 1060 for the time being and pop in the 5700x3d with the rest of the RAM sticks, just to make sure everything else is okay.

@DandaCzeDo you think there’s anything else I can do other than contact the store about the GPU? Since I’ve gotten to the conclusion that it is in fact the problem, and it’s B Grade/Refurbished, but I assume they’ve tested it, and it is covered under warrantyIMG_5202.thumb.jpeg.ccd71ffc1721a19a048fcac28bc11323.jpeg
