Nvidia And linux

I´m preparing for the worst...

My desktop is not officially supported on running Windows 11, now i´m doing so anyway but MS being MS i will not be suprised if they just stuff the "Loophole" that makes this possible just in time for when windows 10 support ends.

 

I therefore tried Linux Live-disk to check compatibility as of 2024 and, off coarse, i wasn't positively suprised my 2070 Super did not perform. Acually, i could not test anything else either, see pi

Is there ANY workng drivers yet for Nvidia? Do Linix at all yet support HW acceleration in heavy grapical applications

Dunno what you've done exactly, but on Linux Mint with a 3080, and proper drivers, I had as good gaming performance than under Windows (either with native Linux versions or Steam Proton emulation)

That or ubuntu or bazzite.

 

I'd use kubuntu since their driver installer is superb.

CachyOS and PopOS should work nice too

I don't think any live boot distros I've tried include Nvidia drivers. You must install them. 

 

Linux has been my primary OS for a very long time, and I've only used Nvidia cards because you just download the driver's and install them, never been an issue.

Indeed, it'll default to the neauvo(?)  or whatever it's called. It's a licensing thing AFAIK.

I have Mint currently, POP and Zorin in the past, all were fine, although as Ohio stated, you have to install, or it will use generic.

IIRC, Manjaro KDE will let you choose to live boot with Nvidia proprietary driver or free.
