FTP to computer from anywhere

So I know I can use filezilla and stuff but I can't seem to get the port forwarding and stuff like that to work so my question is:

Is there a special program that just runs in the background of my computer that can be an FTP Server and a website that I can use to go along with it to FTP my stuff to?

So I want to access my files from the web from somewhere like school etc.

Instead of FTP why not use something like DropBox or OneDrive to share files? Both services are far more secure than vanilla FTP.

 

If you insist on FTP, you may just need to set up FTP forwarding and set up the server for passive FTP.
