I have the new ARM Surface Laptop 7 for work and I am looking at getting a mechanical keyboard and I was wondering if anyone knows about the software compatibility on ARM? I'm guessing stuff like Corsair iCue and Razer Synapse work through the emulation layer but they already use too much CPU as is. Also curious about the more custom keyboards like Keychron, Ducky etc.

QMK/VIA is done over a web browser and then saved onto a chip on the keyboard.

It's agnostic to operating systems.

Keychron is the default answer for most people.

I like NuPhy a lot but there isn't much difference compared to Keychron now that they have the MAX tiers for their keyboards. They also offer QMK/VIA.

Ducky is nice if you want a super clean, professional-friendly black or beige keyboard. No clue about their customization software if they even have any.

That is good to know about QMK/VIA - I have not used them before but might prioritise keyboard supporting them to avoid any potential risks

Unfortunately it looks like I can't get any Keychron keyboards that come with mx speed switches so I might have to buy my own switches to replace the ones work gets for me

I have RSI so I need a light actuation force. Was also considering optical or hall effects as I believe they are supposed to be light.

My bad.
Is the key travel also related to mitigating RSI? Because Keychron also sells low-profile boards and then you could get NuPhy Aloe switches. Even less actuation force and less travel actuation.

Not a problem. I have not tested specifically for key travel but I would assume it would help (given chiclet keyboards seem to be fine for me but I have not used them as extensively). I just use a Corsair keyboard with the MX silver at home and having worked from home for a few years it was not an issue but now I need something that I am back in the office. I have to buy from a local retailer (Best Buy, Staples or Amazon.ca) so I have to buy something pre-built. I will see what I can find on Amazon for the keychron low profiles

If you want prebuilt, I loveeee NuPhy's keyboards.

Here is the Air75 with Aloe switches.

But I have a feeling you need a Number Pad on your keyboard?
