Hi! Strick to the point:

It's been 4 years since I'm using this configuration:

AMD Ryzen 5 3600

GTX 1660 Super

16GB 3200MT/s DDR4

MSI X570 A-Pro

I'm going to upgrade the CPU with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800 or with a 7 5700X3D because I don't want to change MoBo.

I'm currently using 1080p/144Hz display... thinking to upgrade to a 1440p/144Hz.

With 300€ budget, which GPU is the best worth upgrade? 3060? 3060 Ti? 4060? AMD equivalent?

I really don't know. I've been "off the market" for so long that I've lost tracks about the new technology. I only that I want to play at 144Hz with medium but preferable high quality with Ray Tracing.

I also do some video editing, FHD nothing fancy...

Thanks to everyone who will answer!

A Solid AMD equivalent/better card would be the RX 7600 XT, which performs a lot better and is more price to performance. It does cost a bit more at the price tag of 330 euros for the cheapest model. Wouldn't really recommend the 4060, since it costs more than the performance you are getting, and the RTX 3060/3060 ti are getting discontinued. You could also get a used 6750 XT, which performs even better. However, the AMD cards aren't as good at raytracing. If you can, get a used 3070. It would be better than the other cards I recommended and would be extremely good for raytracing. It would also be able to handle 1440p. The 4060 or the 3060/3060ti are not meant for 1440p gaming, so you really shouldn't them if you plan to upgrade. For the CPU, the 5700x3d is the better option, mainly since the x3d cache means a lot when it comes to fps. The 5800x would probably be better if you also want to do some productive work. Hope this helps!

The 5700X3D is definitely the better CPU out of the two you mentionen for gaming.

If you want high quality with Ray Tracing then you should go with an Nvidia card.

But RayTracing on a 3060 or 4060 is well... meh.

Smart decision on the 5700X3D. I would do that as well.

For GPU, I would look at the 6750XT, it's 330 Euro in Germany for example. Not sure where you are, or where you shop.  It's  faster than the 7600XT above, or the Nvidia cards you listed.

I'd get AMD over Nvidia for the 300 range though, more VRAM and better performance (outside of Ray Tracing).

A used 3070 would be on par with the 6750 XT and would be better in ray tracing. It just depends if you want to get a used GPU or not. If not, just get the 6750 XT.

Thanks a lot to everyone!

I'll go with the 5700X3D and a for the GPU I'll see.. maybe I can go a little bit higher with the budget and go with a 3070.

How much is a used 3070 where you are?

Another question for y'all...

What to upgrade first?

The Ryzen 5 3600 or the GTX 1660 Super?

Or better:

Is it best to have

Ryzen 5 3600 + RTX 3070 or 4060

Or

Ryzen 7 5700X3D + GTX 1660 Super

Thanks to whoever will answer!

Replace the GPU first.  It's older than the 3600, and relatively lower tier against its peers.

The 3600 will push a 3070 decently but a 5700x3d won't make a 1660 shine .

Still, for 300 if rather have a new 6750xt or used 6800.

I never cared for the 3xxx from Nvidia with their power spikes and lacking RTX.

But if you want Nvidia, go for it.  Just not the 4060!
