Budget (including currency): $1500-$2000

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Halo, Call of Duty, old Xbox games, general surfing and streaming netflix, etc

Other details I want to build myself, but not knowledgeable on parts. I've replaced phone batteries and electrical outlets. I thought it would be safe to use a build kit so everything is compatible. Cost wise I'd prefer the pro, but would do the elite if the overall quality/cost ratio is better. I am not doing a new monitor for now and using old keyboard and mouse unless kit comes with it. I currently have an HP Pavilion Desktop 570-p020 with i5-7400 and 8GB ram. Would appreciate thoughts on using kit vs some preconfig.

Are those GPU's Supers or regular?

For $2100, that build kit is LACK.  ING.

You can build your own, as IMO.... a build kit is basically doing it yourself.    Watch a few guides on YT, and you'll be more than fine.  Plus you have all of us to help with any questions or concerns.

Oh well that's perfect, since this is the place for us to figure that out.

With your budget, you have a lot of options.

For example, even the high priced 7800X3D and top end 7900XTX are in your budget.  Now, maybe should you wait for the 9800X3D reveal, probably.  If you prefer Nvidia, the 4080Super can be squeezed in with a little less CPU.

It's a couple moving sliders, but as long as you don't go any less than Ryzen 7600 or Intel 14600K, with a 7900XT / 7900XTX / 4070Ti Super / 4080 Super... you're really in good shape.

Thank you for the help!

Glad to!  Others will chime in as well, giving you more info hopefullly.

My signature black has my current builds, so you can see I put my money where my mouth is.

But you can build yours easily, if you want to save the "build fee" they are charging you.

  • If 1080p, then I'd look for 9800x3D perhaps, or 7800x3D but of course mind that it's price is inflated.

Thank you to Dedayog, podkall and Why_Me. The list from Why_Me looks good to me, especially since it has the least compatibility "disclaimers". Assuming that means anything. I am holding off on a monitor and using my old HP "24 or "27". I recently cancelled DirecTV and if I stick with streaming may get a nice monitor for watching that(and possibly a hemorrhoid cushion if I sit in my desk chair that much). Next step ordering and buying windows 11. I already use norton security so can add the new build to it. Thank you again to all of you!
