Hi everyone, I'm just making this post for opinions on my new build, with some of the parts being from my existing system.

Current:

i7 6700

Asus Q170M-C

Corsair Vengeance 32GB (2x16) 3600mhz - only running at 2133mhz with XMP on

Palit RTX 3060 Dual

Crucial MX500 2TB

New:

Case - Corsair 4000D AIRFLOW

Case Fans - Arctic P12 PWM PST (pack of 5)

Motherboard - MSI B760 GAMING PLUS WIFI

CPU - i5 13600kf / i5 13400f / i7 13700kf - not sure which would be the best

CPU Cooler - MSI MAG CORELIQUID P240

RAM - Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 32GB (2x16) 6000mhz CL36

SSD - Crucial P3 Plus 1TB

PSU - Corsair Rm750x

GPU is going to be from the old system - 3060

Pretty sure these parts will be okay but feel free to leave suggestions and things like that

Thanks

This is an alright line-up, but your CPU choice is fairly debatable. I recommend going to AM5 for your CPU, because 1. I still don't trust Intel and their Ultra Bullshit™, and 2. LGA 1700 is worth much less than AM5, especially with the lack of performance in the new Core Ultra CPUs. LGA 1700 may be more premium, but it's not the performance you get in return. You might be able to push your luck and money to get a 7700X or -X3D.

Don't tell me to upgrade. I would've done so if I could.

You want DDR5-6000 CL30 seeing how games benefit from low latency RAM. Here's a few cost cutters including a case with more fans.

Why an Intel chip ? There's close to 0 reason to buy one except maybe for a mixed gaming/productivity usage at low initial cost on a 13th or 14th gen i7 (not counting the power bills lol)

For gaming and "office" use a 7600/7700, X or not, with a B650 board make much more sense

Get 6000CL30 RAM rather than CL36

Okay so I've just kind of mixed up everyones ideas and added these to my basket instead:

Case - Corsair 4000D AIRFLOW - prefer the corsair to the montech case

Case Fans - Arctic P12 PWM PST (pack of 5)

Motherboard - MSI PRO B650-S Wifi

CPU - Ryzen 5 7600x

CPU Cooler - MSI MAG CORELIQUID P240

RAM - Corsair VENGEANCE DDR5 32GB (2x16) 6000mhz CL30 - cl30 instead of 36

SSD - Crucial P3 Plus 1TB

PSU - Corsair Rm750x

IIRC the MSI Coreliquid AIO is kinda crap, some were recalled in 2022...

4000D case is ok (too stocky looking imo), but kinda expensive as it has no fans, and no fan hub, did you look at the Phanteks XT Pro ?

Would something like those thermalright air coolers with 2 fans be okay instead? I only picked the msi one just because it was the only water cooler i could find that didn't have rgb

I think I found another version of that case that has no lights on it because I'm just going for an all black build with no rgb or anything but it doesn't say whether there's fans at the front - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Phanteks-Case-Tempered-Glass-Window-Black/dp/B0CV365B3B/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3MQHAMBIPLP92&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.rVKpPzK-CbgEB1YDOPYkJ1MXM3Dc2oSNBZy_Slwklu1tKXXJkrQP2JP-hV2hTXRbALO2MdudX6v3NbgQh4JXVvPBHAPifkqMUJsTJ93dQZq8HA_7BWnAT2A6xapORVgYrWQOxBZk-eN2uR2dk4AhYfHc5TLvAU0VCSlFbw2GUjfcDav4GzsZPXC7vuUH-Q6vYUCp-arBuFbWJsLS2cF7hlgiaCBGo4_3y4K1uW6pUUJHbNWSlQIyZH-vOiF0L5wJhFORuDF0gJ8z21GBOAM407UezlTwOKL2UUU2WaIx0-E.CGWW9UdhhvUgkc-j5mkQmWFI7HWfsfyqEQWrbVTqZV4&dib_tag=se&keywords=Phanteks+XT&nsdOptOutParam=true&qid=1729968487&s=computers&sprefix=%2Ccomputers%2C114&sr=1-2

Yup it's the base model, nice and cheap

A good dual tower cooler like a TR PS120 or PA120 will work quite well, they perform as well, if not better, as a budget 240 AIO

Right, I've added that case then but I've still kept the additional case fans as it only comes with the one at the back, and I've chosen the PA120.

Thanks for the help
