Hi, first time PC builder here. I have been doing pretty decent I think going through my build but when going to plug in my GPU I noticed that the custom cords I ordered look like they may be missing a couple pins. Can anybody tell me if this is normal for the power supply cable for a PNY 4070 TI super? I noticed that the wires are even missing going into the pins.

-Thanks

Missing pins isn't uncommon, I'd double check they are cables made for the exact make and model power supply you have as PSU cables are NOT universal. If you still have the original cables the PSU came with you can compare the pinout between the custom cables and the originals.

Main Desktop: CPU - i9-14900k | Mobo - Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | GPU - PNY Gaming OC RTX 5080 16GB RAM - Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 64GB 6400mhz | AIO - Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360mm | PSU - Corsair RM1000X | Case - Hyte Y40 - White | Storage - Samsung 980 Pro 1TB Nvme /  Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus 4TB Nvme / Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB Nvme / Samsung 870 EVO 4TB SSD / Samsung 870 QVO 2TB SSD/ Samsung 860 EVO 500GB SSD|

TV Streaming PC: Intel Nuc CPU - i7 13th Gen | RAM - 16GB DDR4 3200mhz | Storage - Crucial P3 Plus 1TB Nvme |

So the end that I noticed it on was the end that plugs in to the GPU. The pins that are missing are the right two of the smaller pins.

Do you mean the 4 sense pins under the 12(2x6)? That's also likely to be normal.

Great! Thanks I just looked. The original cables are not missing the top four pens. when I ordered the custom cables I put in exact model - they even asked for links. Is it risky firing up the system and seeing if everything is running OK or should I go back and just use the original cables? Thank you for all help again.

Yes!!

If you look at images of the cables on the Internet, they're often missing these pins, e.g.

You just saved me a ton of time. Thank you  so much. I’m using a corsair unit.  That gives me   a lot more confidence  in the build so far
