Hello!

I'm modding a used Dell Optiplex 5050 for a super budget gaming rig. This is my first time doing major upgrades, the only experience I have previously is adding ram and an HDD to a laptop.

As is,

I7-6700k gen unknown

8gb ddr4 ( I think)

256gb NVME

currently I'm planning on adding/upgrading

16gb ddr4

2 tb hdd

used gtx from a friend, says its a 1060 but I haven't seen it yet

anything else (besides a good cleaning) that y'all see? It does fully function, but I don't know what applications to use for thermal/stress testing.

I added the wrong photo, managed to double one 😅

How do you plan on powering it? I don't think that you have the correct power leads from the PSU for a gpu. Also double check the gpu fits. I have a feeling that it is too tall for this case.  *edit* it looks like you have the tall boy case, it may fit. But power is still an issue.

Yeahhhhhhh figured that out fast and in a hurry. Original plan has been scrapped, as I was given a full built PC from said friend anyway. I have no clue what I'll do with this now. probably will just setup Linux and use it for a super basic server for my first homelab. Thanks anyway!
