 I am using ubuntu server on a dell r410 and it was working perfectly then after I installed a desktop and rebooted the server I lost the ability to type or to connect wirelessly on the server. 
 

every time I boot it goes onto ubuntu server and then the desktop appears and I lose the ability to type.

 

the desktop says type in username and press f1 to change instance but nothing registers now.

 

any ideas how I could fix it
