240 fps cap

I recently noticed that every single game I play no mater if its on steam epic or anything else is capped to run at 240 fps. I have plenty of power to run all my games faster and I have none of them limited but they refuse to go faster. I have tried closing almost everything in my computer that isn't essential to making it run and the games are still stuck at 240 fps. I am probable going to rest my PC if I can't find another solution so I came here for some potential help. It would be greatly appreciated if someone had any suggestions.

what is your GPU?

Are you playing with Vsync on?

I have a RTX 4070 and no I am playing with out Vsync in all games.

Can you check in your Nvidia control panel if Vsync is on?

It could also be monitor,

yes it does, that's why I turned it off on my monitor

Thats not correct.

I have a 240hz monitor with Gsync on.

I am still getting 500 FPS.  ( This is with Vsync off in game and in Nvidia control panel )

That being said.  For G-Sync to work optimally, Vsync should be enabled in the Nvidia Control Panel**

at that point it's no longer gsync tho, because you use vsync, and latency is something I don't want

Thats not me saying that above line, its Nvidia.

They say to use Vsync with Gsync.

 

You do what you feel is best of course, there is no right or wrong here.

I mean, visually it won't look great with Vsync/Gsync turned off.  If your video card is feeding more frames than your monitor can handle, then you'll get tearing.  But if you don't mind the jaggies, you do you.

Found this thread trying to solve my own problem and thought I would share my solution. My fps was not limited buy Nvidia control panel or RTSS. Turns out I was playing in borderless windowed. So make sure you are in full screen and v sync is disabled.
