Computer won't post with XMP

I have just built a new PC but it would post when trying to run XMP 2 (specs below).   Both the RAM and Motherboard say they support XMP 2.   Tried XMP 2 once, after it didn't post for 5mins I reset it, it booted into the bios safe mode and I reset everything to default.   I have updated to motherboards latest bios and double checked the CPU settings are Intel default settings.   My questions:

 

Is it worth the effort to get XMP working base on what I have?    Is there any danger of damaging anything trying again?   Should I try XMP 1?

What are your Ram specs ?

What are the XMP 1 and 2 settings ?

(I can't run my Ram at full spec either on my 12400, I had to lower from 3600 to 3500 Gear 1)

There are some writings that having XMP disabled could help a little to prevent the affected Raptor lake cpus to degrade. But it's nothing official, nothing that Intel has confirmed of what I know of.

 

It's good that you've updated the bios and enabled one of Intel's profiles.

Look out the coming week or next one for any further bios update, Intel has released another microcode update for the affected Raptor lakes.

 

If you manage to use any of the XMP do some comparision and benchmarks with having no XMP.

If you don't get that much performance boost in your games then maybe it's not worth it.
