I’m at a crossroads and could use some advice. My current setup includes an RTX 3070 Ti paired with a Ryzen 9 5900X, but it’s struggling to keep up with my 43-inch LG 4K monitor. Most games push my GPU to nearly 100% utilization, and I’m wondering if it’s time to upgrade. Should I pull the trigger now on a more powerful card, or is it worth waiting for the RTX 50 series? Alternatively, would switching to AMD offer a better solution? Looking for guidance before I make my next move! Budget is $800

If you want to go used, then waiting for the RTX 50-series to release might be a good suggestion. It really depends on your use case, though.

What do you do on your PC that makes it require an Nvidia GPU or AMD GPU? Do you use DLSS or Ray Tracing in games?

Don't tell me to upgrade. I would've done so if I could.

Nvidia will make you pay more for a better performing product. Its an unbroken trend. Drop in price will only happen if its bad value and cant sell well at the current price.

For 4k you will be looking at the 4080 Super or 7900 XTX. Ideally the 4080 because you will probably be using upscaling most of the time.

Brand new they dont sell for less than $960 (or $900 for the XTX) so your best hope is to get one on holiday sales. Failing that, look for a used card that someone has just replaced.

All our gpus are at 100% when pushing them.

Now, what settings are you using and what fps?  I assume you're not getting the fps you want at ultra, cuz that GPU isn't a 4k card?

It should do high or medium with less, etc

Id tweak he settings to see if you can get a good compromise.

Otherwise grab a 4080 Super or 7900xtx.

If you want to want 4 months for the 5080, and used cards... See if you can stomach your 3070 Ti for a bit longer.
