So to sort music files for the likes of Media Player I use MP3Tag. Which works great to categorise everything. Now I'm sure there is a way of doing this hopefully you guys can help. Basically when sorting albums alphabetically I want it to ignore the word "The"

So for example.

The Beatles

The Kooks

The Wanted

I dont want all under the letter T but instead

B

K

W

Anyone able to shed some light on how to do this? I hope that makes sense.

There is no universal way to do this, so the only way you can accomplish is by removing "The" from the beginning of all the album titles. However, some specific media players could have an option to ignore "The" when sorting albums.

Please let me know if this does not answer you question.

I use EasyTag (there is a Windows version). It has a Scanner mode, that can help automate the removal of the word "The" if you want.  It can be kind of dangerous, as it just goes (it does show you an example of what you are doing), but I would recommend working with copies of the files until you are sure it's done what you want.

MP3Tag perhaps has something like this as well.  I don't know, Easy Tag is just what I generally use. It's scanner functionality is pretty nice.
