Hi. First time PC buyer here. Does the PC below seem good value for money (buying off PC specialist)? I'm looking to use it for SolidWorks and other CAD software (including renderings and animations) and Fortnite. Would also like to ensure longevity for the PC. I had a budget of £1000 but am able to go a bit above (the PC below is currently £1088) so please let me know if you have any suggestions. Also, I was considering buying a laptop instead so if you think that may be a better option, please let me know (I'm not too fused about portability). Thanks.

Hi there. First of all, laptops in that price range will definetly perform worse than a desktop. That's just the nature. Unless you need the protability, stick to desktops.

As for the build itself, you'd obviously be better off just building the pc itself. However, if you include just the parts and don't include the OS, you lose out about 100 pounds. I'd say it's a pretty okay build, but the case could be a bit better.

Also, it seems like gaming is more of an afterthought, and your main vision is for a creator pc. You'd benefit more from more ram, maybe an nvidia gpu if your programms prefer it more and a better CPU. You could probably fit it in your budget with some smart optimizations. Let me know if you'd like me to make a mock-up build that would fit your budget and needs.

Are you planning on running 2 separate OS on it? The two m.2 would be perfect if that is the case but other wise you could probably save a little money/get more storage with a traditional hard drive. For the card does your network support 2.5 or do you have other devices on your network that will support it if not then that is also going to be a bit of extra cost that you could hold off on. I haven't ever used a sound card usually whatever is built into Mobo is all you need unless your running speakers that need it. Graphics card is about 300, motherboard 150, cpu 180, 70 for PSU, 60 for case, 30 for wireless card and maybe 100 extra for all the other things. They are charging you a bit if you are a long time watcher buy the parts and build it yourself save 300 ish.

Not familiar with the UK's prebuilt market but at least personally I'd be pretty disappointed if this is what I got for 1000. I'd mess around with this config off OCuk.

Only planning to run one OS. Was just told it's a good idea to get two to be able to run Windows off one and have all the other downloads on another as it could help keep it running smoother. Not too sure though

I mean that is true but they are pricier than traditional hard drives. you could get a 5tb for the price of some of the 1tb m.2;  1tb isn't a lot of storage anymore unless you have a NAS

I know I kinda went to the max, but this will definetly be a much better pc for creative applications, AND you can game in 1440p if you'd like no problem. Again, depends on the software you use, you could swap the 7700xt for a 4060ti, I went with the 7700xt cause it's better and cheaper/same as the 4060ti. Oh and 32 gigs of ram instead of 32, should help a fair bit aswell.
