EGPU Overclocking

I have a ASUS ROG Ally X with a Thunderbolt EGPU and a RTX2080 Super. Is there any benefit to overlocking the GPU ? I know that you lose performance because of the bandwidth limitations from thunderbolt does also make overlocking point less? 

I'd imagine it depends entirely on the game and if its being bottlenecked on bandwidth or GPU power.
