For my server build I am switching to  Ubuntu Linux 24.04. The motherboard involved has ZERO audio hardware and thus I am looking for an audio card or USB DAC that supports 5.1  audio without having to do gymnastics that is known to work because someone is actually using it without issue.

Anyone out there with a solution?

The sound situation in linux in general for non-built in sound chips is a bit poor, atleast last time i was trying to make a soundcard like that work

Heres a post from another forum discussing that:

I have an Xonar DX, and it works well but i have no idea if it supports 5.1 audio, its also a little old and no longer sold by asus afaik so they may be hard to get
