tried installing my i7 3770k into a lenovo thinkcenter (came originally with an i5 2500) and i got 7 beeps

 

i put back the old cpu and it worked perfectly

 

any way that i can swap the cpu and get it to work?

and yes, bios is up to date

Your device only supports second gen cpu so best option would be i7 - 2600
