So I have a weird issue where my PC turns on and can boot into bios, but when I try to go to boot the SSD or a USB device it seems to freeze and go nowhere after that other than a perpetual HDD light indicator that is solid on IDE but switch to AHCI it's got no light. The system does stay on the entire time and no amount of passing time seems to fix it.

Can you run memtest 86 and post some result ? also can you write down your hardware ?

My hardware is an i7-990x, 24Gb 1333Mhz DDR3, ROG Rampage III, GTX 1080Ti, 1Tb Samsung 870 Evo SATA SSD.

Memory test I'm not sure I can do at the moment when I can boot anything other than bios

just try it. there is no harm from that.

Try with only one ram stick at the time to boot anything. Sometimes bad stick can do that.

Try an other gpu. Even a gt 210 should do the trick. As far i know first gen i7 doesnt have igpu. Faulty gpu can stop you from booting.

Set bios default - sometimes works - try it !.

Boot from usb but besure ssd deattached. Damaged storage can send you in to infinite loops.

how its goin mate ? hope my post helps. Maybe drop a like or follow ? >w<

no ? i guessed that 😄

My storage is fine cause it registers as it should and I know it's not my GPU cause I used it in other systems and it's fine

Your hardware might be fine but it doesnt mean that it is not the issue. I say this cause I encountered a lot of fine hardware doesnt work with eacher cause of random compability issue or something. Or your mobo might have issue so is always fine to cross check.

So what should I do to check it cause this is the only mobo that I have of this socket functional

Try with other (if possible low end) gpu. Try with other ram.

I say these but if you dont have any extra hardware it might be hard.

old motherboards can act up very weird.

Even then I haven't changed the hardware at all since I put in the 1080 and it was working the other day just fine but now it wants to do this
