Budget (including currency):  ~₹35000

Country: India

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming on Linux (Witcher3, Cities Skylines etc), Development work but nothing to do with LLMs.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Current Build:

Intel i3-4370,Gigabyte-GA-B85M-D3H, NVidia 1050 Ti, HyperX DDR3 1600Mhz 2x8*gb, Kingston SSDNow V300 120gb (Please don't factor in the storage, I have plenty other drives not listed here. this is just the OS disk)

Plan of upgrade:
Option1: Intel i7-4790 (used), rx 7600 (new)

Option2: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x, GIGABYTE B550M DS3H, G.SKILL Trident Z Neo 32GB (2 * 16GB)

- My peripherals are all good.

- I really don't care about RGB.

- 1080p with enough refresh rate to not feel nauseous (currently I am not able to play Witcher3 due to this)

- All of this is on Linux, I will never use Windows (I work for Microsoft 😄).

I am planning the upgrade in two stages, do I go with Option1 now and then Option2 or reverse? Suggestion on something better in same price range is also welcome.

The old parts I am planning to turn into a home server to run Jellyfin, Immich etc.

4th gen i7 and a 7600 is incredible imbalance. Go with maybe a 5600 and a 6600 XT. This is a good build to game at 1080p. How much do these parts cost in India though? My advice might be wrong since I don't know Indian part prices, apologies.

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).

I love Photography (Using a Canon 60D)

Love F1, my favourite team is Ferrari and my favourite driver is Leclerc

Hey Thanks for reply.

I don't have budget to upgrade both the CPU and GPU in one go. that's why doing it in stages. Sorry if my wording is not clear, but ultimately I plan to land with Ryzen 7 3700x (or 5600 as you suggested) and rx 7600.

either I do a GPU upgrade first with 4th gen i7 thrown in. or I go to 5600 with 1050 TI. The prices of option1 and option 2 are almost equivalent.

definetely go for a 5600 with a 1050 then upgrade the GPU later. i7 4th gen is shit.
