Random shutoffs

Hi recently i have been having this issue where my pc will shutoff when under certain loads and not like bluescreen or anything just straight black screen it only happens in some games and in some games it will happen as soon as i load in and others it will take a bit before it shuts off

Have you checked the temperatures when gaming?

What powersupply do you have? How old is it?

Are you manually overclocking anything?

 

It's weird that the pc would shutdown itself during load, that doesn't sound like Windows or software error. Otherwise it would normally bluescreen and reboot.

So if you're not overclocking and your temperatures are fine, I would begin troubleshooting. If you have working spare parts, or a friend with spare parts, I would start with the powersupply.

So if you're not overclocking and your temperatures are fine, I would begin troubleshooting. If you have working spare parts, or a friend with spare parts, I would start with the powersupply.

I have an msi mpg a850gf 850 watt 80 plus gold power supply. Temps can be anywhere from 50 to like 80 at highest when it crashes and it only happens in some games so it makes me think its not a power supply issue because i was able to play elden ring for like 3 hours maxed out at a stable 60fps the whole time without any crashes then i run some indie plane builder game thats 1gb and i can run at 1000fps and i crashes in 10 mins also i havent done any overclocking and the only settings i changed in bios were the xmp profile and i turned off the asus thing that removes intel limits i think it was called "Asus multicore enhanchment" also using riva tuner to limit my fps usually lets me play the game longer without crashing and i got most of my parts around 2 years ago the power supply is newer than the cpu

Hmm... it's difficult to pintpoint where to start.

What's the temperature on the gpu when gaming?

 

You do have to start somewhere to troubleshoot and rule out components.

Try with a different graphic card in your pc, and then also your graphic card in another pc.

Continue testing the hardware, one part at the time.

I finally did some testing and its 100% my gpu overheating it seems to only happen in some games like i play Beamng and my gpu immediately jumps to 100c but when i play sniper elite 4 the highest my gpu ever gets is 81c so im wondering if i should replace my thermal paste on the gpu or if theres anyway to improve cooling im definitely considering getting more case fans cause i dont have enough but my pc is in a not very well ventilated room that i would prefer not to keep doors open in so got any cooling tips?

Start with the case open, does it still crash?  Have a house fan to blow on the GPU?  If that fixes it, your case just need more fans.   If it is still overheating you probably need to look at new thermal paste...

Ok so it still jumps up to 100c when my fps in not limited and the case is open so how should i go about replacing the thermal paste can i just use the thermal grizzly kryonaught thermal paste that i already have or do i need to buy thermal pads and is there a good vid on how to replace the thermal paste so i dont ruin my 6900xt.
