Name of Brand: dbrand

Description of your issue:

The Grip case. The manufacturing issues still exist years later. I had a Grip v1 and 2 v2s for my Note 20. All of them eventually started having separation issues between the bumper and the actual case. That said, the case did protect my phone from a fall from my car on to its corner on asphalt. That alone was enough for me to consider getting another one when I upgraded to a 23 Ultra in November, which I ultimately did.

I've not had this case on my phone for 7 full months, and again the same issue, the bumper is separating from the case.

This isn't a new issue, they straight up posted about it 3 years ago (the v1 to v2 post)

This isn't a new problem. It's trivial to find these complaints about just about every single one of their cases. I dunno if they're spending more money on sponsoring spots than they are in getting better adhesives or something, but honestly, this is the 4th case that has done this for me. I have absolutely no expectation that future dbrand cases are going to be any better, considering this has been going on for literally years.

I know that dbrand likes to be edgy and funny, and there is clearly a close relationship between LMG and dbrand. Hell, as a Canadian myself, I'm stoked on other Canadian companies. But I bought in to dbrand on the near constant recommendations from LTT. It's really starting to bother me that they're still being pushed as hard as they are when their products don't seem to be up to snuff. It feels like dbrand is far more interested in their expensive sticker business.

Have you tried solving your issue through the brand's customer support channel? If so, what was the result? I have, I strongly suspect they'll issue me a free replacement with a new skin. This is more or less their standard. Someone needs to hold them accountable, because whatever they did to "fix" this hasn't worked. Instead I'm going to be throwing more plastic in the trash.

What would an ideal resolution of your issue look like? Ideally? dbrand should get this resolved, or, and I get that it sounds painful, they should be dropped until they do. It's disappointing to know that a product recommended to me by LTT is, in fact, not all that great.

I guess people must be harder on things than I am. My Grip has been on my iPhone 12 Pro Max since new in 2020, it still looks new. Best case I've ever bought.

I suppose that could be part of it. However, I mostly work a desk job, and my phone really just sits on my desk all day. If I were being rough on it, I could definitely understand.

A buddy of mine had (a ghost) one too, he bought it because they said they'd send him the new version once they release it, he asked for a refund but they refused to answer both his emails asking for a refund. It's taken so long for the V2 he is actually going to have a different phone by the time they make it lol

I definitely agree with the overall quality concerns when it comes to dbrand's products, cases especially. I've owned a grip case from them as well that had the same separation issue as OP (this was years ago, I ended up just replacing it with a new case from a different company). I also purchased a skin from them once for a Google Pixel and I found the quality of the adhesive to be worse than I expected. It lasted for a couple months okay but then the corners start to fray and catch lint, presumably because they're the points of highest friction when entering/exiting my pocket. They provided a pair of stickers that were supposed to go on the front of the phone as well, along the top and bottom bezels, but those warped within a few months and came out of alignment. Looked really garish. Ended up just taking it all off and getting a case instead.

On that note I do have a Killswitch Steam Deck case from them as well and it's incredibly high-quality. Definitely the best Steam Deck case on the market. So that's worth shouting out as well.

The thing about adhesives is that their performance will always vary greatly depending on environmental factors.  I've seen first hand the full spectrum with internal adhesives when fixing phones.  Sometimes pretty new adhesives are turned completely to goop, sometimes very old adhesives act like they are brand new.  And that's in temparate SoCal, I can't imagine what goes on in other areas of the world.

If I'm not mistaken, dbrand already uses 3M adhesive for everything, so I don't think there's much more on the design/manufacturing side they can do.  As long as dbrand has a good return/replacement policy, I think that's about the best anyone can do, until someone invents physics-defying miracle adhesive that isn't affected by the environmental at all.
