Hello everyone, I have troubles installing new Nvidia graphic driver. I have uninstalled the Nvidia display adapter and tried to install a new one, but I get a message that says no NVIDIA gpu is detected on your system. In device manager the Nvidia display adapter is completely missing and even show hidden doesn’t work. I’ve tried all troubleshooting instructions on the internet and nothing works. I’ve tried updating windows, BIOS, resetting windows, DDU etc. Then I’ve tried to create a legacy adapter and update it, but I was met with error code 31. If you could help me solve this issue I would be grateful.

The device doesn't show up in device manager at all, that's not good. If you uninstalled it and haven't restarted the computer since, I'd do that, if you have restarted the computer and it still isn't showing the GPU in Device Manager, you've got a problem.

How did you uninstall the device?

Why did you uninstall the device? Was there a problem?

Typically you can use Geforce Experience to automatically install/update the drivers for Nvidia cards. Usually you don't need to manually uninstall/install unless there is a problem.

After uninstalling the display adapter through device manager, I have restarted my laptop. I did it because there was some kind of issue and my gpu didn’t work. Now I am unable to install a new one.

Sounds like your GPU has died. If you can't even get it to show in Device Manager the hardware isn't being detected. If you can, I'd try a fresh install of Windows or booting into a portable OS for testing, such as Ubuntu or WinPE. If the GPU doesn't show up in any of those it's defective. Is the laptop still under warranty? If it is I'd jump on an RMA as soon as possible.

I can’t tell for certain if it’s still under warranty, but most likely it’s not. I will try WinPE and Ubuntu later when I get back home. What should I look for when using WinPE and Ubuntu ?

In either portable OS you can view the hardware in the laptop, WinPE will be the same as normal Windows you can check in device manager, it likely won't have drivers but it should still show the device with a default driver. Ubuntu will be the same you should be able to view the hardware and see both the integrated GPU and the dGPU. If it doesn't show up in either of those then it's likely the GPU is bad. If the laptop is no longer under warranty then your options are limited to having it diagnosed and repaired by someone who can(slim chance) or replacing the laptop all together. If the GPU shows up in either it's likely a software issue with your Windows and simply doing a fresh install should fix it.

Thank you for the tip. I will give it a try and I will let you know if it shows up or not.
